Volcanoes cause chaos... again... in 2011 - time to look back!

Iceland’s Grimsvotn volcano erupted with a massive plume of ash that soared high above the North Atlantic. It came just a year after ash from the nearby Eyjafjallajokull volcano caused major disruptions to global air travel (see previous blog entries, year 9!). Several European countries detected debris in their airspaces.

Meanwhile, in Chile, a volcanic ash cloud was said to have created a 'hemispheric disaster'. Check it out here
