"I get that sinking feeling..."

Since the massive plate movements in March that caused so much damage in Japan, parts of the coastline have dropped by up to 1.25 metres. As a result, some very low lying areas get flooded twice a day as high tide arrives. The North-East coast also shifted by up to 4m horizontally during the earthquake. Those areas affected by the new sea level have to wear wellies everyday and many cannot use their toilets as the sewer systems are flooded.
