Mount Merapi's cousin blows it's lid...

Mount Bromo, about 60 miles east of Mount Merapi, prompted residents of nearby areas to be put on read alert for a quick evacuation. Bromo typically erupts once a year but it is not renowned for fierce eruptions.

Meanwhile, some of the 60,000 people displaced and in temporary shelter since fleeing Merapi’s deadly debris have been offered homes on a less-populated island since the volcano is expected to remain active for some time. To make the move more appealing, the government is offering a deal to include transportation, about four acres of land and the cost of living for six months on Kalimantan, on Borneo. Indonesia has about 130 active volcanoes, and hundreds more dormant or extinct. No active volcanoes exist in Kalimantan, which makes the relocation arrangement even better! More than 340 people have been killed in a series of eruptions on Merapi since late October.
