Worst winter since 1947...

...in some areas of Britain!

Motorists in some areas have been stranded due to the snow Thousands of schools have been shut and airports closed after heavy snowfall across much of England. More snow fell overnight amid Met Office predictions of the possibility of "exceptionally heavy snowfall" in some areas as the cold snap continues. Hundreds of drivers were stranded on the A3 in Hampshire and motorists were urged not to travel unless essential. Gatwick and Bristol airports have been closed while the snow is cleared from the runways. The Met Office said reports from members of the public showed around 8in (20cm) had fallen widely over southern parts of England, with Odiham in Hampshire registering 24cm (9.5in). Gatwick Airport is expected to reopen shortly while Bristol will remain closed until 1000 GMT.
